Speakers

Lawrence Yun

Lawrence Yun is Chief Economist and oversees the Research group at the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®. He supervises and is responsible for a wide range of research activity for the association including NAR’s Existing Home Sales statistics, Affordability Index, and Home Buyers and Sellers Profile Report. He regularly provides commentary on real estate market trends for its 1.4 million REALTORS®.

Dr. Yun creates NAR’s forecasts and participates in many economic forecasting panels, among them the Blue Chip Council and the Wall Street Journal Forecasting Survey. He also participates in the Industrial Economists Discussion Group at the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University. He appears regularly on financial news outlets, is a frequent speaker at real estate conferences throughout the United States, and has testified before Congress. Dr. Yun has also appeared as a guest on CSPAN’s Washington Journal.


Todd Book

Todd serves as executive staff liaison to Ohio REALTORS Legal Action, Forms, and C/I Committees. He also works closely with Ohio REALTORS Public Policy Group, reviewing, analyzing, and testifying on proposed legislation. He is a frequent continuing education instructor, speaker and author on legal topics for real estate brokers and agents across the state. Todd graduated with a degree in Political Science from Western Michigan University and has a Juris Doctor from Marshall-Wythe School of Law, College of William and Mary. Todd is the owner of By the Book Advisors, LLC, where he served for more than eight years as a government relations consultant on behalf of the Ohio State Bar Association. He brings extensive knowledge of Ohio law and has served as a practicing attorney throughout his career.


Stephen McCoy

Stephen oversees the operation of the Association’s Legal Assistance Hotline. He serves as executive staff liaison to Ohio REALTORS Forms Committee and the Property Management and Investment Forum. He also works closely with Ohio REALTORS Public Policy Group, analyzing and testifying on regulatory changes to Ohio’s real estate license law. He is a frequent continuing education instructor, speaker, and author on legal topics for real estate brokers and agents across the state. Stephen graduated with a degree in Political Science from The Ohio State University and has a Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School. Stephen joined Ohio REALTORS most recently as an Associate Attorney with The Holfinger Stevenson Law Firm, Ltd., where he focused on real estate, estate planning, and business law, handling real estate and business transactions from contract to closing.


Shannon McGahn

Shannon McGahn is the Chief Advocacy Officer for the National Association of REALTORS®, which represents more than 1.5 million members involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries.

McGahn is responsible for managing NAR’s Federal Legislative and Political Affairs and Political Representative teams. She provides strategic advice on public policy issues impacting NAR and helps direct its Independent Expenditure and Public Advocacy programs.

Before joining America’s largest trade association, McGahn served as the staff director for the House Financial Services Committee and, prior to that, as a counselor to the United States Treasury Secretary. She also held communications roles for three members of House Leadership during her near 20-year Capitol Hill career.

The first woman to hold the Chief Advocacy and formerly Senior Vice President of Government Affairs positions in NAR’s 110-year history, McGahn brings with her nearly two decades of experience working with or for the legislative and executive branches of the U.S. government.


Maura Neill

Maura Neill (ABR, AHWD, CRS, e-PRO, MRP, PSA, MA) is a second-generation REALTOR® who combines her love for the industry with her passion for education. Before getting into the real estate business in 2001, Maura taught at Florida State University and the University of Phoenix. She is an active agent with RE/MAX Around Atlanta, leading her team and representing buyers and sellers on a day-to-day basis. She considers education – both of clients and of other real estate professionals – an important part of her role as a REALTOR®.

Maura is a national real estate presenter and a sought-after speaker for leadership training. In 2021, she was a member of the NAR Leadership Team, serving as President Charlie Oppler’s Public and Federal Issues Liaison, and policy, RPAC, and advocacy are a strong focus in her business and work as a REALTOR® volunteer; she is involved on the national, state, and local levels.


Daphne Hawk

Appointed to the position in July 2022, Daphne Hawk has over 25 years of experience in the real estate industry as a sales agent, brokerage manager, sales trainer, and productivity coach. In addition to her real estate experience, Daphne served as the Real Estate Relations Manager for the Ohio Housing Finance Agency and in that role promoted the organization’s programs and developed a fair housing program that the agency continues to use. As Franklin County Recorder, she oversaw a $5 million budget and improved online services for the general public. Hawk was also a Jackson Township trustee.

Hawk‘s highest priorities will continue to be protecting the consumer and providing convenient services to the Division’s licensees.


Brandon Rudd

Brandon Rudd is the Director of the Center for Research & Data at the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber. Formerly, he led the demographic data functions for the OKI Regional Council of Governments, where he partnered with the Chamber to help create the Cincinnati Region Job Hubs application. He has more than a decade of planning and economic development experience in seven states and holds bachelor’s degrees in urban planning and political science from Ohio University and a master’s degree in urban affairs and public policy from the Biden School of Public Policy and Administration at the University of Delaware.


Andrew Huffman

In coordination with the Association’s Legislative Committee, Andrew provides appropriate supportive actions that best facilitate the achievement of the Association’s Legislative and political action goals. Andrew is also responsible for achieving those goals and supporting or opposing legislation or regulations that directly or indirectly affect the real estate industry and private property rights.
