We’re excited to announce a powerful collaboration between the Realtor Alliance of Greater Cincinnati and Habitat for Humanity Greater Cincinnati (HFHGC). We’re joining forces for the upcoming “REAL ESTATE COMMUNITY BUILD” event in June 2024.
This initiative brings together businesses and professionals from the real estate industry—including realtors, lenders, mortgage brokers, and title companies—to significantly impact the affordable housing crisis in our region. Endorsed by esteemed organizations like the REALTOR® Alliance of Greater Cincinnati, The Greater Cincinnati Mortgage Bankers Association, and The Ohio Coalition of Appraisal Professionals, this partnership aims to raise $50,000 to purchase building materials and construct a home for a deserving family.
HFHGC has a long-standing history of community service, having built nearly 700 homes across the tristate area since 1986. Contrary to common misconceptions, they don’t simply give away homes; they provide opportunities. Prospective homeowners must meet strict criteria, including substandard living conditions, rental costs exceeding 30% of income, stable employment, and the ability to manage an $800 mortgage payment. HFHGC is committed to affordability through a 0% interest mortgage, extensive volunteer labor, and 250 hours of sweat equity from the homebuyers themselves. Additionally, HFHGC offers financial literacy education to empower homeowners for long-term success.
The benefits of homeownership are far-reaching, with improved educational outcomes for youth, better physical and mental health, and increased community engagement. In addition to new builds, HFHGC offers aging-in-place and critical home repair programs, underscoring their dedication to serving the community.
We invite everyone in the real estate community and beyond to support this worthy cause. Your contribution, no matter the size, can make a significant difference in the lives of needy families.
