This recognition celebrates the culmination of over two years of strategic advocacy, tireless collaboration, and effective use of NAR Smart Growth and Housing Opportunity grants—tools that helped us ensure REALTORS® were at the forefront of Cincinnati’s “Connected Communities” zoning reform initiative.

How We Did It: Data, Dollars, and Determination

We knew this zoning reform would be a game-changer for Cincinnati: increasing housing supply, promoting walkability, supporting small businesses, and correcting decades of exclusionary zoning practices. But we also knew it would take more than showing up at a public hearing.

With the support of NAR’s Land Use Initiative (LUI), we secured a detailed legal review of the proposed zoning changes. This gave us clarity, credibility, and confidence—allowing us to prepare persuasive position statements, draft targeted talking points, and deliver impactful public testimony. These tools helped ensure the final language was not only effective but also legally sound and community-focused.

️ Policy Wins Don’t Just Happen—They’re Built

Thanks to this multi-layered effort, the Cincinnati City Council passed the “Connected Communities” initiative with a 6-3 vote—a victory for housing opportunity, equity, and sustainable development.

We are incredibly proud that RAGC’s advocacy was not only impactful at the local level, but also recognized nationally as a model for success. This is what it means to use the REALTOR® voice for good—and to leverage our tools and resources in ways that shape stronger, more inclusive communities.

We’re not stopping here. The next phase of Connected Communities and our continued leadership in OWN Cincy, the Homeownership Symposium, and housing access initiatives are just around the corner.
