The REALTOR® Alliance of Greater Cincinnati (RAGC) was recently invited to participate in a high-level regional discussion focused on developing practical housing solutions and identifying opportunities to move projects from conversation to action.

The room brought together a diverse group of decision makers, industry leaders, policy professionals, lenders, developers, and community stakeholders — all committed to identifying tangible action items that could create early wins and build momentum for long-term housing progress across the region.

Among the ideas discussed were the creation of a “fast pass” approval process for builders and developers who meet predetermined benchmarks, expanded education and awareness surrounding homeownership and housing assistance programs, and the need for greater efficiencies and predictability from government partners throughout the development and approval process.

Participants also explored strategies to improve access to capital for community-based housing projects, along with the importance of supporting a broad spectrum of housing types, not simply workforce or middle housing, but housing options that reflect the full range of consumer needs and life stages.

During the discussion, RAGC’s Government Affairs Director positioned REALTORS® as the industry’s “early warning sensors,” often recognizing market shifts, affordability pressures, consumer hesitations, and inventory trends well before they appear in formal reports or broader economic analysis.

This collaborative conversation reflects an exciting opportunity for RAGC to help shape meaningful housing solutions for the future while ensuring the REALTOR® perspective remains part of the regional dialogue. As discussions continue, RAGC looks forward to contributing ideas, data, and on-the-ground market insight that can help move housing conversations toward real-world results.

“Housing challenges cannot be solved by one sector alone. What made this discussion encouraging was having people from government, development, finance, and the real estate industry all focused on identifying practical solutions that can create momentum. As REALTORS®, we’re often on the front lines seeing market shifts and consumer challenges in real time, and that perspective can help inform smarter housing policy and planning decisions moving forward.”

— Darrick Dansby, REALTOR® and Member, City of Cincinnati Planning Commission

“This conversation reinforced something REALTORS® already know, housing challenges are interconnected, and solutions require collaboration across sectors. What was encouraging was the focus on identifying practical, actionable steps that could create early momentum while also building toward long-term regional solutions. REALTORS® are uniquely positioned because we see market shifts, consumer concerns, affordability pressures, and inventory trends in real time. That perspective can help communities become more proactive instead of reactive as we work to expand housing opportunities across the region.”
