On May 21, 2025, the REALTOR® Alliance of Greater Cincinnati (RAGC) had the honor of hosting Laura Brunner, President & CEO of the Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Authority. In an engaging session, Brunner shared insights into The Port’s mission and highlighted several transformative projects aimed at revitalizing communities across Hamilton County.
Transforming Underutilized Sites into Economic Hubs
Brunner discussed The Port’s strategic initiative to repurpose the former BASF office site in Winton Hills. By subdividing the property into two industrial parcels, The Port aims to attract advanced manufacturing facilities, potentially bringing up to 200 new jobs to the area. This effort exemplifies The Port’s commitment to turning dormant industrial sites into catalysts for economic growth.
Revitalizing Historic Structures: The Crosley Building
Another focal point of Brunner’s presentation was the planned acquisition and redevelopment of the historic Crosley Building in Camp Washington. With $5 million allocated for environmental remediation and demolition, The Port envisions transforming the 330,000-square-foot structure into a vibrant economic center, preserving its architectural heritage while fostering new opportunities.
Investing in Residential Development
Addressing the pressing need for affordable housing, Brunner highlighted The Port’s issuance of $29 million in bonds to support two major apartment projects in Walnut Hills and Norwood. These developments aim to enhance housing options and stimulate economic activity in these communities.
Expanding The Port’s Operational Capacity
To better serve its mission, The Port is relocating its offices to a new 15,000-square-foot space in the Atrium Two building downtown. This nearly $1 million investment is expected to be completed by June 30, 2025, providing enhanced facilities to support The Port’s expanding portfolio of projects.
A Collaborative Approach to Community Development
Throughout her presentation, Brunner emphasized the importance of collaboration between The Port and organizations like RAGC. By working together, these entities can drive equitable development, increase homeownership, and create cleaner, greener, and safer neighborhoods for all residents of Hamilton County.
